This design was influenced by critical design, and highlights the dominance of technology on our everyday lives. The ‘Dinoflagellate’ lives inside the lamp. Dinoflagellate is an algae that excretes a bioluminescent substance when trying to defend itself from predators. The base of the lamp symbolizes the critical design attitude that technology – represented by the lightbulb – weighs down nature.
