PetRoomba
In the PetRoomba project my study group and I explored the potential of Shape-Changing Interfaces to change pets’ perception of autonomous household robots. Using various types of shape-change, we investigated how resembling animal behavior affects the relationship between canines and robots. Multiple studies show that canines have issues with the introduction of robots like the ‘Roomba’ into the home, due to disruptions in the hierarchy. The PetRoomba draws on previous work within the Human-Robotic Interface and Shape-Changing Interfaces field, and showed promising results, when evaluated with canines. This project resulted in a publication, and was presentated at the 2016 SIDeR conference in Malmö, Sweden.
